Fleece lined leggings were needed recently.
If you’re like us, you got a serious preview of winter this past week. Hard.
We thought we were ready. We thought the hot weather in the summertime was too much.
Now we may or may not be regretting those thoughts…
Either way, it’s time to face the facts. Winter is approaching (or Winter is Coming as everyone says), and we’re quickly trying to stockpile as many warm clothes as possible.
One winter essential we love? Fleece lined leggings. Here’s why we’re obsessed:
Plus, fleece lined leggings have gone from semi-unsightly to functional and dare we say – cute! In the last few years. So let’s get into our recommendations so that YOU can stay warm this winter.
Pssst – looking to pair your fleece lined leggings with some cute seasonal tops? Then don’t miss our Peanuts picks from Nordstrom this year!
The best fleece lined leggings are stretchy, thick (but not overbearing), and comfortable (you need to be able to move in them).
Most fleece lined leggings come in black, but lately more brands are coming out with different colors and styles.
At $18, these Target leggings are a steal. And if you’re used to a high waisted legging, you will love these.
Other under $50 options we love:
These fleece leggings were MADE for running. Seriously. They’re sweat-wicking, fast-drying, and made with Lycra for stretch retention. Plus, they’re high rise. We are obsessed.
Other sweet options for running:

If you need layers of warmth, we’d recommend either layering leggings, or layering leggings under jeans. Fleece leggings alone, or jeans, may not be enough in climates 20 degrees and below.
That’s why fleece lined jeans can be a phenomenal alternative on days you need warmth, but want to look more pulled together.
Luckily, the process is pretty simple.
Although we know we should, we don’t hand wash our fleece lined leggings. Usually, you can get away with turning your leggings inside out and washing them on a machine wash cold setting.
Air drying is always ideal (especially to prevent pilling) but if you’re tight on time, throw them on tumble dry low.
With this said, depending on the brand you buy, always make sure to check the care label first just in case.
Depends on how frequently you’re wearing your leggings. We wouldn’t recommend fleece lined leggings for an indoor workout class.
If you’re wearing fleece lined leggings for a run outside, it might be worth washing them once per wear.
Otherwise, if you’re just doing daily activities like taking your dog for a walk, you might be able to get away with three wears before they need to be tossed in the wash.
First, get them out of the dryer, if possible.
If they’re still pilling (which is sometimes inevitable) we recommend purchasing this handy dandy lifesaver for $12 – your pilling clothes will never be the same (in a good way.)
